Lekiu’s business trip to Amazon Go on January 24

The Lekiu team went to Seattle to take a look at the newly opened (to the public) Amazon Go convenience store.  The steps to buy items were very simple: scan the QR code on your phone, move past the turnstile, pick what you want to buy, walk out of the exit turnstile.

We found Amazon Go to be a category killer in the convenience store category and will be a serious contender to 7-Eleven stores and other convenience chains.  Amazon Go plans to expand.  It is already hiring for more positions.  We found the selection to be few and the pricing on par with 7-Eleven stores.  However, it must be noted that we went to Amazon Go during its first few days of public operation, so the selection might increase in the future either at the same store or at future Amazon Go locations.”

Amazon Go definitely gets a 10 out of 10 for convenience.
